A wine recommendation under £10 every Wednesday – except the last of the month which is a payday splurge.
I am currently betrothed and very much in love, but I do sometimes miss being single.
Not having to compromise with what to watch on TV, not having to share my chocolate and not having to cook dinner for two.
To be fair, I do whatever is the opposite of the the lion’s share of cooking, but it’s still more than I did when I was single – which was known to consist of taking a fork to an actual wheel of cheese.
One thing I don’t miss about being single though, is being constantly reminded that the world favours couples. Want a few slices of bread? Tough, you have to get the whole loaf. Want to claim for single persons’ council tax allowance? That’s still 75% of the bill. Only want one glass of wine? Then you either have to choose from the same extremely mediocre small bottles from the supermarket or just open up a whole bottle and deal with it.
No longer though! The end of the tyranny of the twosome is nigh – well, for wine at least, thanks to canned wine. A quickly growing trend and the answer to every single girl’s dreams.
Canned Wine Co – Barrel Aged Verdejo 2019 £5ish/can Shop
Now, I know that this is a bit of a cheat as each can is only 250ml and therefore the equivalent bottle price is over the £10 wine Wednesday threshold, but as I’m writing this with the idea that you will only be drinking one a night then I think I can get away with it.
And yes, £5ish or so does seem a lot, but just think how much you pay for a large glass in your local pub – and I can guarantee this is so much better.
My favourite of the entire Canned Wine Co range, this literally does what it does on the tin – a “creamy white wine evoking the flavours of the Mediterranean with tangy tangerine, ripe nectarine, fresh fennel and a burst of mouth-watering lemon.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Pair it with whatever TV show you want to watch, because you bloody well can!
